Designer:- D. José Gancedo. Opened in 1976.
This Pepe Gancedo masterpiece opened in 1976 and is widely recognised as one of the most beautiful courses on the Costa del Sol.
The 18 holes of Golf Torrequebrada are situated between the Mediterranean sea and the mountains, rich in tropical vegatation and birds. With the large number of lakes and strategically placed bunkers, every hole is a different experience for the player.
The course nestles in mature landscape, and each hole is secluded from the next by tree lined fairways.
The 11th 164 metre par 3 is one of the most testing holes on the course. The tee shot needs to take into account water at the front of the green, bunkers surrounding it, and then the green itself on two levels.
A previous host of the Spanish Open and the home base of Spanish Ryder Cup star Miguel Angel Jimenez, its steep terrain, water and sand hazards make it a great technical challenge - perhaps too difficult for high handicappers.
There are no less than eight doglegs, and accuracy off the tee is of paramount importance. This course may be short, but it certainly isn't easy!
Torrequebrada is on the 'must play' list, and is a real test from beginning to end.
