Built in the middle of a beautiful pine wood, and with panoramic views over the sea, Pinhal Golf Course was originally designed by the Briton Frank Pinnick in 1976. In 1985 it was partly redesigned by the World famous American Robert Trent Jones, who introduced new challenges to the course. The combination of a British and American architect results in the golfer being confronted with different kinds of play.
The outward nine holes at Vilamoura Golf Club's Pinhal Course wander through the holiday villa's that line the fairways, while the back nine return gently uphill and move through terrain that opens up into magnificent sea views
Watch out for the par 4 on the fourth hole, which has water waiting for any stray shot! Hole 17, par 5 offers the chance of a birdie, or maybe an eagle, but only to those confident enough to risk driving off over the out of bounds area to the right, thereby drastically cutting through the fairway accentuated dog leg.
The greens are small and strategically placed bunkers make the course very enjoyable, testing the player's accuracy.
