One of the finest courses in Europe, The Grove is a Championship venue having hosted all the great players at the 2006 World Golf Championships won by Tiger Woods. Since opening, it has been ranked in Golf World’s Top 100 Courses in the UK and achieved a consistently high rating in the prestigious Peugeot Golf Guide which judges the leading courses in Europe.
The 7,152 yard parkland course was designed by American course architect, Kyle Phillips, one of the most exciting and creative designers in modern golf. Kyle has created courses in more than 20 countries including the Kingsbarns and Dundonald courses in Scotland, and he seamlessly combines the strategy of the modern game with the great traditions of British golf course architecture - which fits perfectly with The Grove's own 'groovy grand' style.
Construction of the 18 hole layout - which follows a majestic route over rolling tree-lined landscape - started in 2000 and was completed in 2002. A further year long seeding and "grow in" programme ensured that when the course opened in September 2003 it was in immaculate condition from tee to green.
The Grove is fully cart-pathed for year round play - and immaculately maintained throughout the seasons.
With four sets of expansive tees and fully integrated cart paths which magically disappear into the landscape, visitors can select the length of the course to suit their ability and explore The Grove in one of 40 buggies.
Our Resident PGA qualified Senior Golf Fitness instructor offers unique assessment of swing and physical fitness programmes to develop bespoke instructional plans for golfers of all abilities.
The Grove has approval to award official golf handicaps and offers three creative handicap programmes from absolute beginners to seasoned amateurs. The handicap packages include tuition sessions, followed by rounds of golf on the course with a professional or a qualified marker, to qualify for a handicap. The Grove then manages the player’s handicap and pays for one year’s subscription to the English Golf Union.
Extensive practice facilities include a large landscaped practice range playing off natural turf, a large putting green as well as a chipping and bunker area.
